A Preview To New Releases In 2006

As one year comes to an end, inevitably another begins! 2005 was a great year for music, but with all the gossip in the news, 2006 looks as if it may be even better. Obviously I'm not going to tell you everything that might be coming out next year, but hopefully I can give you some info about the best rock and roll bands and their new releases.

Many bands have already confirmed release dates in the opening weeks of the New Year, such as Blur, Radiohead, the Strokes, the Vines, Graham Coxon, Beck, Richard Ashcroft, the Arctic Monkeys and the Red Hot Chili Peppers just to name a few of the more famous ones. Obviously big name bands such as the Chili Peppers and Radiohead speak for themselves, but you probably haven't heard of most of them, so here's a run down of the artists and what they have done in the past:

Blur – Back in the 1990's released classic Brit-Pop songs such as “Parklife” and “Country House”
Radiohead – Most famous for their suicidal “Creep” single back in the early ‘90s.
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Sold millions of albums worldwide, you must know them
Graham Coxon – Guitarist in Blur, released an album last year
The Strokes – Catchy rock tunes, such as “Last night”
The Vines – Similar to the Strokes, most famously sang “Ride With Me” from the iPod adverts
Richard Ashcroft – Ex-frontman of The Verve, famous for “Bittersweet Symphony”
Arctic Monkeys – Their first single “I bet you look good on the dancefloor” was a number one this year
Beck – Most famous for his song “Loser”.

As well as these albums that we shall see in the first couple of months of 2006, the rumour mill continues as everybody seems to think they know who will be releasing new material next year. The Killers, The Bravery, Travis, Linkin Park and Velvet Revolver are just some names that look likely to release new material.

My favourite rumour is that the most expensive album ever will finally get released in 2006. “Chinese Democracy” by Guns N' Roses has been developed since 1994 and has cost over 13 million dollars. I have been waiting for this album to be released for a long time, as have many fans, but every release date gets put further and further back. Could this be the year that it finally gets released?
